A 5-m resolution gridded digital elevation model (DEM) for the bathymetry (ocean depth) of the lagoon environment of Majuro Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI). Compiled from ship-borne multibeam sonar surveys conducted from 2003-2006 by the Pacific Community (SPC) Geoscience, Energy and Maritime (GEM) Division, formerly the South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC). This work was implemented through the project "Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific States" funded by the European Development Fund. Not to be used for navigational purposes. For a grayscale hillshade image layer of this dataset, see "mh_sopac_maj_bathy_lagoon_hillshade" in the distribution links listed in the metadata.
PacIOOS provides timely, reliable, and accurate ocean information to support a safe, clean, productive ocean and resilient coastal zone in the U.S. Pacific Islands region.
The Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) is funded through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a Regional Association within the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). PacIOOS is coordinated by the University of Hawaii School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST).
