It is referenced to a vertical tidal datum of Mean High Water (MHW) and was compiled from various data sources including: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), formerly the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC); the U.S. National Ocean Service (NOS), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and other federal, state, and local government agencies, academic institutions, and private companies. Developed for the National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program (NTHMP) to support NOAA's tsunami forecasting and modeling efforts. Not to be used for navigational purposes.
